Museum Staircase

Photograh, 2017

This project depicts various staircases in three different museums: Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, Guggenheim Art Museum in New York, and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami. With increasing museums setting elevators for better accessibility and general convenience, museum staircase becomes a relatively forgotten thus intimate space where limited visitors would walk in. Yet staircases are not abandoned. They even present the museums’ artistic statements in distinct styles. These statements could impose great influence on museum visitors’ flow and experience through their specific spatial practices.
